STADE, Germany (Sept. 12, 2011)—Dow Chemical Co. has increased capacity for propylene glycol by 10,000 metric tons per year at its Stade plant in August.
Dow said it achieved the increase after optimizing equipment during routine maintenance.
This increase follows implementation in 2010 of an energy and technology optimization project during planned maintenance, which gave a large-scale expansion, completed in August 2010, Dow said.
The increase has raised the plant's capacity for propylene glycol to about 280,000 metric tons per year. Dow has global propylene glycol capacity of more than 700,000 metric tons and five global PG facilities including the Stade plant.
