SACRAMENTO (Sept. 2 2011)—Sept. 28 is the date by which local California jurisdictions should complete and hand in their applications for grants under the California Tire-Derived Product Grant Program, according to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
Projects eligible for grants must use a minimum of 2,500 passenger tire equivalents, and all the tires must have been generated within California. Reimbursement is based on the cost of materials, tax and shipping, with a maximum of $5 per PTE and $150,000 total.
