PVC dominates the kink resistant garden hose market due to its combination of low cost, good flexibility and high strength. In recent years, PVC has come under criticism over the various environmental concerns related to the polyvinyl chloride manufacturing process, plasticizers used to softed the PVC and end of life disposal methods. In some applications the benefits outweigh the concerns, while others have moved away from LVC toward the non-PVC alternatives. This paper will cover materials selection along with the critical parameters used to develop non-PVC kink resistant garden hoses.
