FULLERTON, Calif.—Yokohama Tire Corp. has won two iPad app awards, launched a new website and hired a digital marketing agency.
The U.S. arm of Japan's Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. took an honorable mention award in the apps-business category at a recent Creativity International Awards competition. The firm's app also took a Silver ADDY Award in the mobile marketing category at the Los Angeles area chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
The company competed with projects from agencies and their clients with much larger budgets and greater international exposure, said Alan Holtschneider, Yokohama manager of advertising, promotions and events.
The free app features videos and information on the technology behind Yokohama's consumer tires. It was created by the firm's ad agency, Kovel/Fuller.
The tire maker's new website is designed to put customers first, according to Theresa Palang, manager of public relations and digital marketing. It includes an interactive driving style selector, product hot spots, an educational “tires 1001” and tire comparisons.
The site also will have a section called “tech lab,” which gives details on the technologies that are used to design and manufacture the company's tires; integrated social media, with Yokohama Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels all in one place; and a dealer locator.
The firm said its site also includes content-sharing and bookmarking, so consumers can research a product easily.
The site's address is www.yokohamatire.com
Yokohama's new digital marketing agency is United Future, based in Culver City, Calif.
The agency will develop with Yokohama strategies, implementation tactics and business analytics to strengthen communications with the tire maker's customers, Yokohama said.
