AKRON (Aug. 18, 2011)—Goodyear has named Stephen McClellan president of its North American Tire business unit following the recent departure of Curt Andersson, who left to pursue “other professional interests,” the tire maker said.
McClellan, who has served as president of the company's North American consumer business division since 2008, will continue his duties in that position until a successor is named.
Since joining the company in 1988, McClellan has held various management roles on the consumer side in the areas of finance, sales and distribution. In December 2001, he moved into Goodyear's commercial business, serving first as president of Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems before being promoted to vice president, Commercial Tire Systems in September 2003.
“Steve brings strong leadership and a proven track record of delivering results,” said Richard Kramer, Goodyear chairman, president and CEO. “Steve's career of more than 20 years at Goodyear has included progressively larger leadership positions within North American Tire. His success in running the North American consumer and commercial tire businesses and his strong relationships with customers make him a natural successor to the role.”
