NOVI, Mich. (Aug. 11. 2011)—Cooper Standard Automotive Inc. said it will build a plant in Craiova, Romania, to expand its global automotive body sealing and fluid handling business.
Plans for the project aren't completed, according to Keith Stephenson, Cooper Standard chief operating officer, but the new site will house both manufacturing and offices, and initially supply a nearby Ford Motor Co. plant.
Stephenson said the site also will provide sealing and fluid handling products for its global customers.
At full capacity, the facility will employ more than 150 people, according to the company.
Novi-based Cooper Standard makes rubber and plastic seals, tubes, hoses and containers for auto fluids, such as brake and fuel lines. With the addition of the factory in Romania, the company will operate in 19 countries.
