PLYMOUTH, Mich. (July 20, 2011)—Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies, a global producer of elastomeric seals and custom-molded products for the automotive, heavy truck and other industries, has installed an electric vehicle charging station at its headquarters in Plymouth.
Company employees, customers and visitors alike may use the charging station for their plug-in electric or extended range electric vehicles, Freudenberg-NOK said in a press release.
With U.S. electric vehicle capacity set to reach 1.7 million by 2015, building an infrastructure of charging stations has become essential, said Luis Lorenzo, Freudenberg-NOK vice president for advanced product engineering.
“We are pursuing sustainable technologies every day and also doing our part to promote their use,” Lorenzo said in the press release. “This station is part of an emerging infrastructure that will ultimately ensure widespread acceptance of electric cars across the country.”
Freudenberg-NOK produces hundreds of gaskets and seals for the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf, according to the release.
