AKRON—Soren Butz of Synthomer Sdn. Bhd. will compare the characteristic performance of coagulated natural and nitrile films with a major focus on the barrier function as well as stress relaxation in a presentation at the upcoming International Latex Conference.
The event will take place July 26-27 at the Hilton Inn in Fairlawn, Ohio, an Akron suburb.
Concerning nitrile films, Butz's paper will review the individual impacts of glove thickness, the vulcanization process and the polymer design on the solvent permeation times and on the stress relaxation.
The paper reviews how the solvent permeation and the relaxation of nitrile gloves can be tailored according to the market needs.
In a second part of the paper, Butz will discuss how accelerator-free X-NBR dipping lattices are an option for the industry, providing a simplified processing, leading to clean end products without residual accelerators and sulfur, and allowing energy savings by lower vulcanization temperatures.
