WASHINGTON (June 22, 2011)—Houston-based Kraton Performance Polymers L.L.C. is one of five winners of the 2011 Green Challenge Chemistry Awards sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Kraton won the honor after judging of scores of nominated green chemistry technologies by an independent panel of experts from the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute, according to the EPA.
The Green Challenge Chemistry Awards honor corporations and universities that develop safer, more sustainable chemicals, processes and products that protect the public from harmful substances, the EPA said. Kraton won in the “Greener Reaction Conditions” category.
