LA RIBERA DE BELEN, Costa Rica (June 3, 2011)—Bridgestone de Costa Rica, S.A. said its new Financial Shared Services Center for the Latin American Region will be located in Costa Rica.
The company will also invest about $70 million over five years to increase the flexibility of its tire factory in La Ribera de Belen in Heredia.
The news came in a statement from the Costa Rican Investment Board. No one from Bridgestone was available to comment.
The investment board said the financial center would create about 100 jobs in the city.
Another Bridgestone Americas' subsidiary, Firestone Industrial Products Co. L.L.C. invested $18 million in Costa Rica to open an air springs plant in 2009. The plant, located in Turrialba, employs roughly 160 people.
