STUTTGART, Germany (June 1, 2011)—German car maker Daimler A.G. has picked Yokohama Advan Sport V105 tires as OE fitments for its Mercedes-Benz SLK-class two-seat roadsters and the CLS-class premium luxury 4-door coupe models, according to Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.
The new fitments are Yokohama's fifth and sixth OE supply contracts with Mercedes-Benz, Yokohama said. The others are the CL 63 AMG, CL 65 AMG, ML-class AMG, C-class and C-class AMG.
The Advan Sport V105 is a specific tire developed for Mercedes and as such will carry an “MO” mark on the sidewall to signify the OE approval. The V105 is based on Yokohama's more widely available Advan Sport V103.
The tires also carry Yokohama's BluEarth eco symbol on each sidewall, representing the firm's commitment to producing environmentally and socially friendly tires.
The 2012 SLK roadster is the third generation of the modern SLK, first launched in 1996. With electric retractable hardtop called “vario-roof,” this model provides a user with the attraction of both coupe and convertible.
