TOKYO (May 27, 2011)—Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. plans to build a high-pressure hydraulic hose plant in Hangzhou City, China.
The facility will make hydraulic hoses ranging from middle to ultrahigh pressure at its production line integrating everything from rubber mixing to vulcanization, Yokohama said. The $37.1 million project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and result in a monthly production volume of 400,000 meters of hose by January 2013.
Chinese demand for construction machinery that uses such hose including excavators and cranes has recovered after a temporary drop from the recent recession, the company said. Strong demand is expected to continue throughout 2011 and beyond.
Yokohama said that in addition to the increasing original-equipment demand from Japanese and Chinese customers, sales in the replacement market are growing rapidly.
