TRELLEBORG, Sweden (May 27, 2011)—Trelleborg A.B. said it will spend $2.85 million to add V-ring production and 50-100 employees to its Malta operations.
The company announced the expansion at a ceremony commemorating 50 years of operation in the country.
Previously known as Malta Rubber, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta currently produces high volumes of O-rings in standard materials for fit-for-purpose applications. A spokeswoman said it will transfer production of V-rings from within Trelleborg, while not disclosing the site or sites where that manufacturing now is occurring.
The project also reflects new business the firm has obtained, Trelleborg said.
Trelleborg Malta employs 600, including 60 with more than 40 years of service, and operates from Hal Far and Marsa, Malta. It produces and sells 25 million O-rings per week to a global customer base.
“Marking 50 years is an important feat in today's highly competitive market and I wish to thank all our employees for contributing to the company's success,” said Martin Hignett, managing director of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta.
