BOWIE, Md. (May 26, 2011)—For the first time in the organization's history, all board members of the Tire Industry Association have contributed to TirePAC, the association's political action committee, TIA has announced.
“The TIA Board has clearly shown that TirePAC matters,” said Randy Groh, chairman of TIA's Government Affairs Committee. “Now, it's time for the rest of the tire industry to step up and do their part.” TirePAC accepts contributions as low as $25, Groh said.
TIA created TirePAC in 2000, shortly after the Ford-Firestone tire recalls of that year, to help legislation beneficial to the tire industry as well as the industry's friends in Congress.
The association credits TirePAC with assisting passage of important bills such as H.R. 4, which removed the Form 1099 reporting provision from the health care law passed in 2010.
