HEERLEN, Netherlands—Akzo Nobel N.V.'s is growing its automotive repair distribution network in the U.S. through an expanded relationship with LKQ Corp.
The deal will involve the divestment of about 40 company-owned stores to LKQ.
The transaction affects all Akzo Nobel U.S. branches involved with automotive repair direct sales. Akzo Nobel's Sikkens, Lesonal and U-Tech brands will all be distributed by LKQ, according to the agreement.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The move will allow Akzo Nobel to broaden its services for the automotive repair industry, according to a company spokesman.
With nearly 300 facilities, LKQ is the largest nationwide provider of aftermarket recycled and refurbished collision and mechanical replacement products for the automotive and truck market, Akzo Nobel said.
