MEDICINE HAT, Alberta (May 11, 2011)—Cancarb Ltd. said it is phasing out scheduled maintenance shutdowns so it can keep up with increased demand for its Thermax N990 thermal black.
“Despite the recent increases in various raw material costs, the rubber industry is running extremely strong,” said Dave Petrie, president of the Medicine Hat-based supplier. “As a result we made the decision to do a phased maintenance shutdown of two of our units, and bring a third unit (unit 5), shut down since 2008, back on-line to meet the increased demand.”
The decision means there will be no interruption of supply for customers of the firm's top-selling Thermax N990, Cancarb said. The company produces 45,000 metric tons of the material annually.
