NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 3, 2011)—Bridgestone Americas' Firestone Firehawk GT Pursuit tire has been selected as the OE fitment for the ready-for-duty 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit police vehicle.
The W-rated tire, fitted on the Charger Pursuit in size P225/60R18, is specifically designed for law enforcement use and combines wet and dry handling with an emphasis on quick steering response, Bridgestone said. In testing conducted by Police Fleet Manager magazine, the Firehawk GT Pursuit was named the best overall tire and best overall wet-performance tire.
Key features of the tire include a silica-rich tread compound, designed to enhance traction and braking on wet roads, along with an asymmetric tread pattern to help channel water for increased grip surface and enhanced all-season performance, according to the Nashville-based tire maker. The tire also includes Bridgestone's Veri-Pitch technology, which uses random pattern on the tread blocks to reduce noise while driving.
The Firehawk GT Pursuit was tested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
