INDIANAPOLIS (April 21, 2011)—Wayne Punch, environmental health and safety director at Milliken & Co., will give the keynote presentation at the first EHS Summit of the Association of Rubber Products Manufacturers, May 19 at Firestone Club in Akron.
Milliken is well known for its achievements in safety and operational excellence, according to the ARPM. The company's Safety Way program has led to significant breakthroughs in safety, employee motivation and cost reduction, and the past three years the firm's total injury and incident rate has been .05, compared to the U.S. industry average of 5.0, according to Milliken.
The ARPM program will feature a number of other speakers addressing environmental, health, and safety issues, as well as a series of interactive networking roundtables for professionals involved in the rubber products industry.
The EHS Summit fits into the association's goal of bringing leading edge best practices and benchmarking to its members and executives in the rubber product industry, according to Charlie Braun, president of Custom Rubber Corp. and ARPM vice president. Braun's Cleveland-based company recently hosted a tour and best-practices discussion for association members and guests.
