HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (April 5, 2011)—Several employees were injured April 4 when a tornado struck a plastic and rubber auto body sealing plant in southern Kentucky.
None of the injuries are life threatening, according to an April 5 news release from Toyoda Gosei North America Corp. in Troy, Mich.
The affected plant, TG Automotive Sealing Kentucky in Hopkinsville—and TG North America—both are part of Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. of Kiyoshi, Japan.
The plant suffered “significant damage” after the tornado struck around noon on April 4, according to the release. The plant's finished goods area “sustained significant building damage” and loss of power, officials added. The firm is making efforts to return the plant to production as quickly as possible, they said.
TG's “highest concern is for the safety of our team members,” officials said.
The plant opened in 2001 and has more than 300 employees making parts for Toyota Motor Corp. vehicles.
