AKRON (Feb. 17, 2011)—Chuck Sinclair, senior vice president of global communications for Goodyear since June 2003, plans to retire March 1 after a 26-year career with the Akron-based tire maker.
Goodyear did not name a successor. In the interim, Joe Ruocco, senior vice president, global human resources, will carry out Sinclair's duties, Goodyear said.
Sinclair, 59, joined Goodyear in 1984 as public relations manager at the company's engineered products plant in Lincoln, Neb., after working as a sports reporter and columnist for the Journal & Star newspaper in Lincoln.
He relocated to Goodyear's corporate headquarters in 1987 as publications editor and was named public relations manager, general products in 1990; manager of public relations for the company's North American Tire unit in 1992; and manager of public affairs in 1993.
He advanced to national media relations in 1995 and director of public relations for North American Tire in 1997. In 2002, he was named vice president of public relations and communications for North American Tire.
A native of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Sinclair graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed the Mahler executive leadership program as well as that course work at Morehouse College in Atlanta and the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, N.C.
