ANAHEIM, Calif. (Feb. 10, 2011)—MTD Micro Molding of Charlton, Mass., anticipates a March launch for lights-out operations of its first liquid-silicone-rubber injection molding machine—a 20-ton Sodick.
Brian Matachun, MTD director of technical sales for the eastern region, said the company received the press in August and has worked toward commercial applications.
“Over five years, we have averaged annual increases of 50 percent from molding sales,” Matachun said, projecting a continuation of the gains during 2011.
In addition to the LSR project, MTD operates 10 micro molding cells, each with a 20-ton Sodick.
MTD occupies more than 20,000 square feet and has 20 employees, including 10 mold makers. MTD makes molds for internal use.
In October, Ron Noggle joined MTD as director of technical sales for the western region.
