DEARBORN, MICH. (Jan. 25, 2011)—International Automotive Components Group is investing $78.8 million in a new interior parts plant in Romania to supply parts for two cars for customer Ford Motor Co.
The plant in Bals, Romania, will employ 400 people and make instrument panels, door panels, headliners and other interior trim for Ford's plant at Craiova, Romania. The investment will not only support Ford, but will also give IAC increased opportunities to supply other carmakers in Central and Eastern Europe, the company said in a statement.
IAC's European operations are based in Krefeld, Germany. It also has facilities in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The Romanian government is supplying state aid valued at $23.1 million to help support the investment.
