PERSTORP, Sweden (Jan. 5, 2011)—Perstorp Group issued a force majeure notice for toluene diisocyanate and chloralkali products made in France, as well as caprolactone produced at a site in England.
The company said the notice for TDI and chloralkali should last for six to 10 days, and began on Dec. 31. An incident at an electrolysis plant in Pont-de-Claix, France, led to Perstorp temporarily shutting down the production of the chemicals at the site. .
Perstorp also had to close production of a caprolactone monomer and polycaprolactone polymer facility in Warrington, England, in late December for less than a week because of weather-related problems. That shutdown impacted deliveries in early January, the firm said, and Perstorp declared force majeure for its Capa monomer, Capa polyols and Capa thermoplastics.
