CHICAGO (Jan. 4, 2011)—April Miller Boise, the only black female head of a major Cleveland law office, is leaving the Thompson Hine law firm to take a key corporate post with Veyance Technologies in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Boise has been named vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Veyance, which makes conveyor belts and other industrial rubber products under the Goodyear Engineered Products name. Veyance was created in 2007 when the business was spun off from Goodyear and was purchased by investment giant Carlyle Group, in a transaction, Boise helped spearhead with a team from Thompson Hine.
Boise has been with Thompson Hine since 1999, and in February 2009 became partner-in-charge of the Cleveland office, the firm's largest.
