FINDLAY, Ohio (Dec. 30, 2010)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has named former Eaton Corp. executive Christopher E. Ostrander as president, North America Tire Operations, effective Jan. 17.
Ostrander, who will assume the responsibilities previously held by Cooper Chairman, President and CEO Roy Armes, also will serve on the company's executive committee and as an officer of the company.
Ostrander previously served as vice president and general manager of the torque control products division of Eaton Corp., a position he has held since 2008 and which was expanded in 2009 to include global sales and marketing responsibility for the commercial vehicle and aftermarket group for Eaton Automotive.
Ostrander joined Eaton in 2004 as director of sales for the automotive group, then moving to the mirror controls division where, in successive moves, he served as business unit manager, multi-business unit manager and general manager while running additional Eaton operations, including the fuel vapor division and performance products division.
Prior to joining Eaton, Ostrander held leadership roles with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the BOC Group P.L.C., a multinational manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases. He graduated from West Point in 1991 and was honorably discharged as a captain in 1997, according to Cooper.
