TOKYO (Dec. 8, 2010) —Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., announced that Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co. Ltd., had achieved “complete zero emissions”—no waste subject to direct landfill disposal.
YRC said the achievement, which occurred in November, was the fifth at an overseas production location. It also noted that Yokohama Thailand achieved “zero emissions”—landfill disposal less than 1 percent of total waste—in December 2009, the first overseas production location to do so.
The company said Yokohama Thailand will now focus on achieving 100-percent waste recycling.
YRC said all eight of its Japan production sites have maintained complete zero emissions since March 2006, and had achieved 100-percent recycling of industrial waste by the fiscal year ended March 31.
All 15 of its overseas production sites aim at achieving complete zero emissions by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, according to YRC.
Along with Yokohama Thailand, Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. in the Philippines, and Hangzhou Yokohama Tire Co., Ltd., Yokohama HAMATITE (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. and Yokohama Hoses & Coupling (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., in China, have met that goal.
