AKRON (Dec. 8, 2010)—Goodyear has named Richard Noechel vice president and controller of its North American Tire unit, succeeding Thomas Connell, who plans to retire March 1.
Noechel, who began his career with Goodyear in 2004 as an assistant controller, currently serves as vice president of finance for North American Tire. He also has held positions as chief financial officer of Goodyear's South Pacific Tyre subsidiary in Australia and vice president and controller of Goodyear.
He will be succeeded by Laura Thompson, current vice president of business development for North American Tire. She will be replaced in that capacity by David Campopiano, who serves as senior director of business development. All changes will take effect March 1, according to the Akron-based tire maker.
Connell joined Goodyear as vice president and controller in 2003 after working for 24 years in financial management positions with TRW Inc., Goodyear said. He also served as the tire maker's chief information officer from February 2008 to April 2010.
“Tom has been an invaluable member of the company's finance leadership team,” said Darren Wells, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “He provided sound judgment and strong process discipline that has contributed enormously to Goodyear's financial business processes, while also building our finance team globally.”
