TOKYO (Dec. 6, 2010)—Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has adopted a series of corporate guidelines for preserving biodiversity, in line with the United Nations' having declared 2010 the International Year of Biodiversity.
The guidelines are in addition to YRC's earlier pledges to take action to combat global warming and contribute to building a sustainable recycling society.
YRC's basic premise in supporting biodiversity reads:
“Recognizing that our business depends on the bounty of nature and that biological diversity in the ecosystems that produce the benefits we enjoy is quickly disappearing on a global scale, we endeavor to preserve biodiversity through the sustainable use of biological resources in our business activities, and to be good stewards of our planet for the generations to come.”
Yokohama said the guidelines will apply to all of its group activities and will include its supplier companies and communities surrounding these entities.
