AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (Nov. 2, 2010)—Dow Transportation Adhesives–a heritage Rohm and Haas Co. business—has become part of Dow Automotive Systems' global Adhesives business, as of Nov. 1, the company announced.
This unit, operating as a stand-alone enterprise within both Rohm and Haas and Dow for more than 45 years, is described by Dow as “a global leader in the distinct rubber-to-metal bonding segment of the automotive industry.” Dow added that it has related capabilities in supplying high-performance bonding and coating products for seals, gaskets, headliners, sunshades, weatherstripping and “a host of other components made of silicone, elastomers and composite materials,” for transport industries.
Dow said that the bulk of Dow Transportation Adhesives' business is focused on rubber-to-metal bonding applications, as well as interior trim adhesives and release agents used in part manufacturing for cars and commercial vehicles. According to Dow, these bonding and coating technologies are also functional enablers for aviation components, rail tanker linings and industrial applications ranging from storage tanks to earthquake pads.
Dow Transportation Adhesives has its headquarters in Auburn Hills, with manufacturing plants in North America, Europe and Asia, and research and development laboratories in Ohio, Germany, China and Japan.
