PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2010)—Harvey Brodsky, longtime retreading proponent dismissed from his post as managing director of the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau, said he's starting a competing retread organization called the Retread Tire Association.
The new organization is being set up as a non-profit 501(c)(6) entity “dedicated to promoting and expanding retreading and proper tire repairing throughout the world with no closed doors and no closed meetings,” Brodsky said in an Oct. 22 letter to the tire industry trade press and select retreaders.
He said he is giving the industry a choice and that membership is available by contacting him at 831-917-6449 or at [email protected]
“I have pledges of support from many of the leading voices in our industry,à” he wrote.
Brodsky, in his letter, continues to maintain he was not told why he was dismissed.
Marvin Bozarth has been named TRIB interim managing director, and he sent an Oct. 22 e-mail to TRIB members saying that the annual membership meeting required by TRIB by-laws occurred March 24 during the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. Bozarth informed members that the next membership meeting would be in March 2011, also at the Truck Show in Louisville.
