LAKE FOREST, Ill.—Microflex Corp. has acquired the Black Dragon examination glove line from Medtexx to expand its hand production portfolio.
A division of BarrierSafe Solutions International, the rubber latex and synthetic latex glove manufacturer recently bought the Black Dragon line because it features high quality disposable black latex examination gloves used in the tattoo industry, Microflex said.
The firm said the line features excellent comfort, tack and wet grip that can benefit users within all of the company's targeted markets. It provided few other details about the purchase.
Microflex has been producing gloves since 1988, when it was formed. It manufactures natural rubber and synthetic latex disposable gloves for the dental, health care, EMS, laboratory and industrial safety markets, a spokesman said.
It also produces gloves using other materials, including vinyl and chloroprene.
The company makes its gloves at a plant in Malaysia, a company official said, and has offices in Lake Forest and Reno, Nev. It prides itself in the development of specialized products and superior quality, the official said.
Last year it came out with a new line of hand protection called Dura Flock.
The nitrile gloves were designed for use in the automotive, industrial and laboratory markets. The gloves feature a fine layer of cotton on the inside. By absorbing moisture, the flock lining keeps hands dry inside the glove and improves grip, the company said.
Medtexx, based in Englewood, N.J., makes and distributes a variety of hand protection and health care products, including gloves, for the medical, dental, food, veterinary and other industries.
