GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 20, 2010)—Michelin North America Inc.'s BFGoodrich brand has introduced the Winter Slalom KSI winter performance tire designed for performance-oriented drivers.
The tire—available in 36 sizes ranging from 14 to 17 inches in diameter—features cutting-edge technology that allows it to provide traction on extreme winter surfaces, BFGoodrich said. It features an S speed rating.
The Winter Slalom KSI is available for a broad range of fitments for cars, SUVs and light trucks. It is manufactured using a unique rubber compound mix that provides an optimized balance of winter traction without significantly compromising wet grip, the company said.
Among the tire's features are 49 meters of high-sipe density; extra-long sipe length for winter traction; an optimized mold profile to minimize footprint stress; full lateral grooves for hydroplaning resistance and deep snow traction; and diamond-cut block edges with slowing tread element shape to provide block rigidity.
In addition, BFGoodrich's Equal Tension Containment System helps to maintain the tread footprint for consistent high-speed control, the company said.
