AKRON (Oct. 13, 2010)—Goodyear's North American Tire unit has named Phillip Kane as president of its Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems, replacing Brent Copeland, who becomes plant manager at the tire maker's Lawton, Okla., plant.
Copeland had been Wingfoot president since November 2003. Kane, who previously served as North American Tire's senior director of consumer channel sales, joined Goodyear in 2004 as director of strategic initiatives.
At Lawton, Copeland succeeds Bill Taylor, who became plant manager at Goodyear's Fayetteville, N.C., plant during the summer after Tim Frosell, the previous manager, was named the leader of Goodyear's new tire plant in Pulandian, China.
Copeland, who has served for 38 years with Goodyear, was part of the team that started the Lawton plant in the 1970s and previously worked there until 1983. He also worked at the Tyler, Texas, plant as a business center manager in addition to several other roles with the company.
