FORT MILL, S.C. (Oct. 12, 2010)—Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.'s General Tire brand has inked a three-year deal with the Jeepspeed Racing Series to become the title sponsor and spec tire of the General Tire Jeepspeed Challenge.
The Fort Mill-based tire maker will commence its sponsorship of the endurance desert-racing series for Jeep enthusiasts in January and provide General-brand tires in a variety of fitments, including 33/10.50 R15, 33/12.50 R15, 35/12.50 R15 and 285/75 R16 sizes.
Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire, said the company also will sponsor six tires for each of the first 30 teams racing in the 2011 challenge.
The Jeepspeed Racing Series is designed to give Jeep enthusiasts an opportunity to race their Jeeps—equipped with General-brand tires and motors from ATK Jeepspeed Engines—and the chance to take part in a motorsports competition. The 2011 series consists of five challenge/cup events along with two bonus events and will run from February through December.
