LEESBURG, Va. (Oct. 6, 2010)—Rehau Inc. broke ground on Sept. 30 on a Polymer Solutions Center on the grounds of its North American headquarters in Leesburg, near Washington.
Construction on the building, which features a sustainable design and renewable energy products and systems, is scheduled to be completed in early 2011.
“As the North American market continues to be focused toward sustainable building practices that deliver on energy efficiency, ecologically minded material use and renewable energy sourcing, we are committed to helping our customers, partners and community members understand how best to proceed in this regard,” said Kathleen Saylor, CEO for Rehau North America.
Saylor said as part of this goal, the company has designed the Rehau Polymer Solutions Center as a structure in which all of its sustainable building technologies can be seen “in action.”
Among other features, the 1,150-square-foot building will include a Rehau-Polytec 50 hybrid curtain wall system and high-efficiency vinyl windows and doors. It also will include a Rehau ECOAIR ground-air heat exchange system, and a snow and ice melting system will clear surrounding walkways during the winter months.
