WEINHEIM, Germany (Oct. 4, 2010)—Freudenberg Seals and Vibration Control Technology has agreed to sell its static metallic cylinder head and exhaust gasket business to ElringKlinger A.G.
The deal will end Freudenberg's role as a supplier to automotive original equipment manufacturers. The companies didn't disclose financial terms of the deal, which is expected to be completed by Jan. 1, 2011.
Freudenberg said it makes products for that segment at plants in Eurasberg and Geretsried-Gelting Germany; Chamboret and Nantiat, France; and Settimo, Italy. The operations employ 370.
ElringKlinger will obtain the Freudenberg subsidiary Burgmann Automotive GmbH of Gelting, Germany, and take over part of Freudenberg-Meillor S.A.S. in Nantiat, and Oigra Meillor S.R.L. in Turin, Italy.
ElringKlinger, based in Dettingen an der Erms, Germany, said it intends to expand its international position in cylinder-head gaskets and highly heat-resistant specialty gaskets for engines and exhaust systems
