CLEVELAND (Sept. 22, 2010)—Some major provisions of the new health care law take effect tomorrow, and tire dealers must take care to know how the law will affect and, in some cases, help them, said Martin P. Hauser, of the Akron-based health care provider SummaCare Inc., at the International Tire Exhibition and Conference in Cleveland Sept. 22.
Much of what the law will do will not be clear for some time, according to Hauser.
“There are 1,051 rules we're waiting for from the federal government to tell us what to expect,” he said. But some of these rules potentially are a boon to tire dealers, including a 35-percent tax credit to employers with 25 or fewer employees that offer health insurance to their workers.
Hauser urged his audience to hire insurance consultants and also access informational web sites on the health care law to keep up to date about its rules and provisions.
“This is a constantly evolving process, so if you want to stay informed, you need to keep checking,” he said.
