ESSEN, Germany (Sept. 20, 2010)—Evonik Industries A.G. has decided to divest its carbon blacks business as part of a plan to focus its efforts on specialty chemicals in growing markets.
Evonik's carbon blacks unit is among the top sellers in the world and has 1,700 employees in 12 countries and sales of about $1.3 billion, according to the company.
Since the start of this year Evonik has been examining options for the development of this business, the company said. It has now engaged an investment bank to prepare the divestment, according to Evonik.
