MUMBAI, India (Sept. 9, 2010)—Workers at two Apollo Tyres Ltd. plants in South Africa have gone on strike.
The company told shareholders that employees walked out at the Apollo Tyres South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. factories in Durban and Ladysmith. No other details were available.
The Durban factory employs 752 and makes light truck, truck and bus, agricultural, earthmover/off-the-road and industrial tires. The Ladysmith factory produces passenger and light truck tires and has a staff of about 900.
