BRYAN, Ohio—The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating an explosion at Titan International Inc.'s Bryan off-the-road tire plant that left one worker injured.
The explosion was reported the morning of Aug. 23, and the victim flown to an area hospital. His name was not released, and no information on his condition was available.
OSHA officials couldn't immediately comment on the cause of the explosion. “We're in the middle of our investigation,” said Jule Hovi, area director for OSHA's Toledo, Ohio, office. “We're still gathering the facts.”
She said OSHA has a six-month statute of limitations on completing its investigation, but that it would try to complete the probe as soon as possible.
Titan officials couldn't be reached for comment.
The Titan manufacturing site was fined a combined $164,500 last year when OSHA found engineering problems and failures that were linked to the plant's tire curing equipment.
