PRAGUE (Sept. 3, 2010)—Czech farm and OTR tire producer CGS Tyres is buying a specialized tire distributor in France to help it consolidate the distribution of its Mitas, Continental and Cultor brands in that country.
CGS is buying the sales unit of L'EuropÃ&Copy;enne de Pneumatiques, a Saint-Paul-lès-Romans, France-based agricultural and industrial tire distributor.
EDP has sold Mitas-branded tires in France since 1972 and will now add CGS's Cultor and Continental brands, CGS said.
Terms of the deal, announced Sept. 2, were not disclosed.
EDP will handle both OE and replacement markets, CGS said.
In 2009, France was CGS Tyres' fourth most important territory in terms of sales. CGS claims a tractor and combine harvester OE market share in Europe of 25 percent.
