YUANLIN, Taiwan (Aug. 27, 2010)—Cheng Shin Rubber/Maxxis International has picked a site in a Chongqing, China, industrial park as the site for its newest tire plant, a $300 million project that should be producing radial car tires by mid-2011.
The new plant, located in Chongqing Municipal YAN Jia Industrial Park, will be capable of producing 30,000 tires daily at full capacity. The project should take two to two-and-a-half years to complete and provide 2,500 jobs, the company said.
The plant will be Maxxis' fourth in China and eighth overall. It will operate as Cheng Shin Tire & Rubber (Chong Qing) Co. Ltd.
Maxxis is considered the world's 10th largest tire maker with 2009 sales of $2.72 billion. It is represented in North America by Maxxis International in Suwanee, Ga.
