LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Aug. 18, 2010)—Registration has begun for the fourth annual “From Scrap to Profit” symposium on the use of recycled rubber in plastics and rubber products.
The program is scheduled for Nov. 3-4 at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock. It will be held in n conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Resource Conservation Challenge Scrap Tire Workgroup Meeting.
The event is sponsored by Clemson University, the Rubber Manufacturers Association, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, the Asphalt Rubber Technology Service, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Columbus-McKinnon Corp., Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., Granutech Saturn, Liberty Tire Recycling, MA Associates and MTR Tire Recyclers.
Among the topics to be covered are: potential opportunities in carbon markets; new specifications from the ASTM for infill systems, playgrounds and mulch; certification in the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Program and how that will benefit scrap tire products; and an update on research into the health and environmental effects of ground rubber.
