TIVOLI, Italy (Aug. 11, 2010)—Trelleborg Wheel Systems S.p.A. is expanding capacity for forestry tires at its plant in Tivoli to meet increased market demand for these types of tires.
Trelleborg did not disclose the size of the expansion nor the investment but said the project is continuing throughout 2010 with the installation of more curing presses.
“We completed installation of the new lines for forestry tire production during 2009 and began industrialization of the first sizes in January 2010,” said Marco D'Angelo, industrial director. “We expect forestry tire output to increase during 2010 and 2011 in line with increased market demand.”
Trelleborg chose to invest in Tivoli “due to its unrivaled experience in manufacturing tires for agricultural applications,” said Susanna Hilleskog, sales and marketing director for Nordic countries.
Trelleborg employs 600 at the 2.4 million-sq.-ft. plant near Rome.
