CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 28, 2010)—Pathway Polymers is saying that it's no accident the manufacturer of TyrFil polyurethane tire fill product is marking four consecutive years without a lost time accident.
The company said it's committed to workplace and worker safety and trains workers in basic issues such as proper lifting techniques, appropriate personal protective equipment and employee wellness programs.
Pathway Polymers recently celebrated its accomplishment with an employee picnic at its facility in Chattanooga. The company's TyrFil product is used to flatproof OTR tires.
“From the top down, we focus on safety first,” said CEO Joe Danules. “It is due to the commitment of our employees and the exceptional processes and procedures we have in place, that we are able to celebrate this accomplishmentà.”
As part of its ongoing safety efforts, the company said it recently introduced a high visibility clothing program. In addition to proper footwear and safety glasses, employees and visitors also wear orange safety vests when in production and warehouse areas. “These small steps taken by each employee every day are important and are vital to our achieving this milestone,” said Eric Johnson, environmental, health and safety manager for the company, which is a subsidiary of London-based Vita Group.
