AKRON (July 22, 2010)—R. Bruce Silver, retired executive vice president of what today is AkroChem Corp., died July 20. He was 86 and had been ill for some time with pancreatic cancer.
Silver was a principal as well as executive VP with Akron Chemical Co., and also a chairman of Revlis Corp., an Akro-Chem subsidiary. He was a graduate of Princeton University with a degree in chemical engineering, and served as an officer with the U.S. Army Combat Engineers during World War II.
He is survived by his daughters Margie Allen and Patricia Silver; his wife, Jean; stepchildren Robin, Sarah and Taylor Smith and Margaret Bell; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place on July 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Akron.
