PRAGUE, Czech Republic (July 21, 2010)—Czech tire and rubber products maker CGS A.S.—which also operates as Mitas A.S.—has confirmed it is exploring plans to build a plant near Charles City, Iowa, for agricultural tires.
A CGS spokesman said nothing is definite as yet, but the Czech company wants to complete a deal within the next few weeks.
The spokesman said there is a big agricultural meeting in Charles City at the end of August, and the aim is to make a formal announcement at that time.
The company is represented in North America by its sales subsidiary CGS Tires U.S. Inc. in Charlotte, N.C. CGS's holdings also include Rubena industrial rubber products and Buzuluk rubber processing machinery.
