SINGAPORE (July 14, 2010)—Mitsui Chemicals Inc. has officially opened its second plant in Singapore for the production of its olefin elastomer Tafmer.
The plant, which began full-scale commercial operations in March, will have an annual operating capacity of 100,000 metric, bringing total annual Tafmer production capacity to 200,000 metric tons, the company said.
Mitsui said the plant “incorporates MCI's unrivaled technologies in polymer design, metallocene catalysts, and production processes into a world-class, state-of-the-art production facility.”
The Tafmer product line is a group of flexible and lightweight olefin elastomers for a number of applications that improve impact resistance and heat sealing properties of materials when blended with thermoplastic resins, the company said.
