LEXINGTON, Mass. (July 7, 2010)—Tillotson Corp. and Top Glove Bhd. have reached a settlement on a law suit filed by Tillotson against Top Glove Sdn. Bhd., TG Medical Sdn. Bhd. and TG Medical (USA) Inc. in 2007.
The suit had claimed the three companies, along with other nitrile glove makers in Malaysia and Indonesia, were infringing on Tillotson's patented nitrile glove technology and should be banned from exporting gloves to the U.S.
In the joint motion for dismissal, filed July 2 in the U.S. District Court for Northern Georgia, the companies agreed to withdraw all claims and counterclaims against each other. Each company will cover its own costs, expenses and attorney fees.
Neil Tillotson and Luc DeBecker developed and patented the nitrile glove technology in 1990. The patent covers technology related to the production of a synthetic rubber glove that relaxes after being donned and conforms to the contours of the wearer's hand, according to Tillotson Corp. The patent was reissued in 1997.
