BRUSSELS, Belgium (July 6, 2010)—BASF S.E. has closed temporarily its toluene diisocyanate and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate joint venture plants in Caojing, China, because of a raw material shortage.
The firm said the TDI unit of Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Co. Ltd. will be down from July 4-21, and the MDI facility at the same site from July 4011. Both materials are used as polyurethane curatives.
The firm didn't say what raw material is lacking.
